Estimate, not a quote. Ranges from HomeAdvisor's True Cost Guide and our catalog's published prices. Your real installed cost depends on your site, panel, fuel run, and local rates. Verify with a licensed electrician and get at least three quotes.
Where the numbers come from
Installation components (labor, transfer switch, concrete pad, permits) are ranges from HomeAdvisor/Angi's True Cost Guide (retrieved July 2026), scaled by the cost-area multiplier you pick. Unit prices are our catalog's published MSRP range for the chosen size, the same figures you see on each model page, sourced to the manufacturer or retailer.
The region multiplier is deliberately coarse (low / average / high), not a fake ZIP-level precision. It scales the install portion only, not the unit price.
What this can't do
It can't see your panel, your gas line, your permit office, or your local labor rates. Treat the range as a planning number, a starting point for the quotes you'll get from licensed installers. The real number for your home could sit anywhere in (or just outside) the range.
Verify with a licensed electrician. Generator installation is permitted electrical work in most jurisdictions. Get at least three quotes before you buy, and confirm permitting with your local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).
