Privacy Policy

The short version

We collect almost nothing. We don't use cookies. We use cookieless analytics that counts visits without tracking you across the web. If you submit the contact form, the fields you enter are sent to our inbox through web3forms. Some product links are affiliate links, which may set a cookie on the retailer's site, not ours.

What we collect

• Contact form submissions. If you use the contact form, the name, email, subject, and message you enter are sent to our inbox via web3forms, a third-party form service. We receive those fields in our email and may keep them to reply. We don't store the submission on this site's servers.
• Cookieless analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Ahrefs Web Analytics, both of which are cookieless. They record aggregate page views and basic request data (country, referrer, path) without setting cookies or tracking you across sites. Neither identifies you personally.
• Server logs. Our host (Vercel) retains standard request logs, including IP address and user agent, for a limited period for security and abuse prevention. We don't use these for tracking.

Third parties

• Vercel hosts the site and provides cookieless analytics. SeeVercel's privacy policy.
• Ahrefs provides cookieless web analytics. Its script loads from analytics.ahrefs.com and reports aggregate page views. SeeAhrefs' privacy policy.
• web3forms delivers contact form submissions to our inbox. Seeweb3forms' privacy policy.
• Amazon and other retailers. Some product links are affiliate links. If you click one, you land on the retailer's site, which may set its own cookies under its own policy. We don't control and aren't responsible for cookies on third-party sites.
• Lead-gen partner (when a program is active). If you click a "get local quotes" link that goes to a partner network, the partner captures any details you submit on their site under their own policy. Until a partner is active, those links go to our installer directory and capture nothing.
• Neon stores our product catalog at build time only. No database credentials or data reach your browser.

Cookies

This site does not set cookies. We don't use a consent banner because we don't need one. The only cookies you may encounter are set by third-party sites (Amazon, retailers, a lead-gen partner) after you click a link off our site, and those are governed by the third party's policy.

Your choices

• Analytics. Because our analytics is cookieless and aggregate, there's no individual profile to opt out of. You can use a content blocker to block the analytics scripts if you prefer.
• Contact form. Don't submit anything you don't want in an email. You can reach us without using the form if you prefer.
• Affiliate links. Use your browser's do-not-track or cookie settings, or open links in a private window, to avoid any retailer cookies.

Children

This site is directed at adults making home purchasing decisions. We don't knowingly collect information from children, and the contact form isn't intended for use by anyone under 16.

We'll update this page if our practices change. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
