What we do

We catalog standby generators, portable power stations, and home battery systems with specifications traced back to a manufacturer or retailer citation on every model page. We publish cost ranges from national cost data, not invented quotes. We build free tools, a sizing calculator and a cost estimator, that do defensible math and then tell you to verify the result with a licensed electrician. And we aggregate public installer listings from OpenStreetMap so you have a starting point for local quotes.

Our methodology

• Every spec is sourced. No specification goes live without a citation back to the manufacturer or retailer. If we can't verify a figure, we leave it off rather than estimate it.
• Prices are dated. A price carries its check date. Retailers set the live price, so we show the source and the date, not a stale number presented as current.
• Cost is a range, never a quote. Installed cost depends on your site, panel, fuel run, and local rates. We publish sourced ranges and a tool to estimate within them.
• We don't vet individual installers. Installer listings are aggregated from public OpenStreetMap data. We state plainly that a listing is not an endorsement and that you should verify license, insurance, and reviews yourself.
• Guides are authored and reviewed. Each guide carries an author and a "reviewed by" line. Every technical or safety claim traces to a citation.

Generator sizing, wiring, transfer switches, fuel, and installation are permitted electrical work and a safety matter. Nothing on this site is a substitute for a licensed electrician. Every page that touches sizing, cost, or installation carries a standing reminder to verify with a licensed professional and your local authority having jurisdiction. We publish general, sourced information so you can have an informed conversation with one.
